Phlebotomy Certification Organizations - Which To Choose?

There are a number of organizations which offer phlebotomy certification programs and courses. However, not all are reputable or teach according to standards set by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).

When deciding on a suitable phlebotomy certification training program, look for an organization that is accredited or approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), uses materials and examinations that reflect CLSI standards, and qualifies graduates for an examination through an external certification agency.

There are ten nationally recognized certifying agencies in the United States. Some of these agencies include the American Certification Agency, the American Medical Technologists, and the National Center for Competency Testing, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the National Phlebotomy Association. The requirements to become a certified phlebotomist vary by agency and are outlined below.

The American Certification Agency (ACA) for Healthcare Professionals offers two types of certification for phlebotomists; phlebotomy technicians and phlebotomy instructors. To be eligible for the phlebotomy technician exam, applicants must have completed 100 clinical hours, 100 successful venipunctures and 10 successful dermal punctures (although 25 are required in Louisiana). The exam is written online in combination with a practical component. Phlebotomy instructor applicants must be phlebotomy certified or a registered RN or LPN. No written exam is required; however applicants must provide documented proof of three years phlebotomy experience and one year teaching experience.

The American Medical Technologists (AMT) offers phlebotomist certification. Applicants must have graduated from a phlebotomy program accredited by the US Department of Education, a program accredited by the Regional Accrediting Commission, a phlebotomy program consisting of 120 hours of instruction and 120 hours of clinical practicum, or have completed at least 1,040 hours of acceptable work experience in the last three years. In each case, the applicant must have completed a minimum of 50 successful venipunctures and 25 successful skin punctures. AMT offers a number of resources to applicants, including a downloadable candidate handbook, exam outline, reference materials, and practice test.

The National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) offers phlebotomist and donor phlebotomist certification. Both certification types require the applicant to possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy applicants must also be graduates of an approved phlebotomy program or possess one year of experience. The NCCT also requires a phlebotomy performance form. In California and Louisiana, additional performance forms are required. To become a certified donor phlebotomist, the applicant must possess six months of donor phlebotomist experience, including 80 successful donor collections. Applications can be submitted electronically or in hard copy, both forms are available on the NCCT website.

For more information on phlebotomist certification, visit the "Phlebotomy Certification Guide" website. Here you will learn how become certified, find jobs, and information about the phlebotomy certification organizations. If you are interested in becoming a phlebotomist, this is the site for you!

What Will You Learn at a School For Video Game Design?

Game design school is a great place to go if your career dreams lie in the field of game design and development. Because this is a relatively new and emerging industry, game design courses must be updated regularly. Many colleges simply do not update the course content as much as they should and as such subjects taught may be somewhat outdated. Specific game design schools on the other hand specialize in this subject only so they stay on top of new industry trends and technology. This is vital for the student who wants to leave school with relevant skills in order to become employed in this exciting industry.

Game designers must have many attributes. First and foremost you must be creative, innovative and intelligent. You should also have technical skills as even game artists use computer software. Programmers obviously must have the required programming skills such as C++ and other specified languages.

Game designers also learn to be team players at game design school. Being able to communicate with a team is the key to developing a great game. Because each person in the term plays an important role in the finished product, if communication is poor then the game will not come together as planned. Meeting deadlines is also a priority and game design schools will touch on that topic as well.

One of the best game design schools is the Collins College which offers a bachelor's degree in Game design. You will learn C++, Java, 3ds max and AI. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to work within the game research and planning stage, character development, level design, modeling and project management.

The ITT Technical Institute offers a The Digital Entertainment and Game Design program and covers subjects like gaming technology, game design process, animation, and level design.

The Digital Media Arts College is a very well equipped technical college. At the DMAC, you can take advantage of industry-standard animation tools, 3D software, and imaging technologies and work with experts from such companies as SEGA, ImageWorks and Disney.

The best game design schools will have relationships with game development companies whereby work placement and even employment can be guaranteed upon completion of the course.

Choosing a great game design school will mean the difference between success and failure. Making the right decision is the best way to get a start in this highly competitive industry.

Four Steps in Successfully Passing Your PMP Certification Exam

Successfully passing the PMP certification exam may be your ticket to more job benefits, more job responsibilities and more job opportunities. Thus, it is of utmost importance that you achieve it regardless of its stress levels.

Fortunately, you can adopt these four steps towards the PMP certification exam. Of course, these can also be applied to any and all certification exams that you might take in the future.

Do Your Exam Research

You have to investigate the subject matters covered by the certification program administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for project managers. You must also do your research about the depth and level with which you must study the subject matter, which will determine the areas you will need to pour more attention to.

Doing your research also makes it possible to identify strengths and weaknesses in your current knowledge. This way, you can improve on the weaknesses and refresh on the strengths, which ought to maximize your chances at passing the PMI-administered certification exam.

PMI only recommends one bible in its exams. This is called "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)", which is recognized by the American National Standards Institute. Just refer to the PMBOK and you are in good hands.

Study and Study Some More

You will need at least 35 hours of PMI-sanctioned project management education before you can take the PMP certification exam. In this training-cum-review course, you will be able to study all that you need to know to pass the exam. Just remember to look for a reputable company that offers this training course!

With 200 multiple choice questions to be accomplished in just four hours, the PMI exam is definitely not child's play. There are more than 40 formulas to be memorized and understood and many more acronyms and their meanings to be read and digested! Thus, diligent study is imperative for passing the PMP certification exam.

Assess Your Readiness

The hallmark of an excellent project management preparation course is the presence of practice exams. There must be at least two of these in order to hone your skills in answering the time-pressured exam.

You must aim for the passing grade and then add 10% to account for the nerves and excitement when taking the real exam. (Better safe than sorry) When testing your readiness, always make sure that you are closely mimicking the environment of the testing center including the time limits.

Prepare Yourself

Before the day of the actual PMP certification exam, there are things you must perform to prepare yourself. First, scout out the testing center. This way, you can familiarize yourself with the route and the room itself. You cannot afford to be late!

Second, get a good night's sleep. There is nothing worse than answering questions on sleep-deprived body and mind. Third, eat your breakfast. Not only is it the most important meal of the day but a low sugar level will adversely affect your concentration. And do your ablutions! You need to feel fresh and you cannot waste time on bathroom breaks once too often.

Fourth, don't bring anything you don't need into the testing center. You will only be distracted, which is definitely not good for you.

And now, you are ready to take the PMP certification exam and pass with flying colors!

Visit ThreeO.ca today to secure the best possible PMP exam preparation course to pass the PMP exam. And when you do pass the PMP certification exam, expect the doors of opportunities to open up for you!

Art Schools - The Artist's Choice!

Is Art School necessary to be a good artist?

Being creative or artistic is truly a gift, a talent. But as with any talent, it needs to be tempered, honed, and optimized. Without proper training, one might never achieve the potential he or she was born with. And to help you hone your talents, you will need a good Art school!

Any educational institution that offers training in the arts may be called an art school.

They may offer vocational, undergraduate, or graduate and even post-graduate courses.

These schools focus their trainings on the visual arts such as illustration, painting, advertising design, graphical arts, photography, sculpture, and other artistic expressions. In the last few years, even game design has become institutionalized. This means that the art of designing game graphics has become serious business.

If the college is accredited it will grant you a Bachelor' degree in Fine Arts or a B. A. in Fine Arts or some other certification and degree.

A successful future in the Arts industry depends on choosing the right school to hone your talents. When choosing an Art school, consider the following factors.

What Can You Benefit from an Art School?

You may be tempted to think you will be able to wing it through a career without any formal training. That is possible. However, since industries are constantly looking for professionals who can abide by industry standards, those with Art degrees get a competitive edge. Also, in Arts school you learn from other professionals what these industries expect of their artists. This helps you be more prepared for work with professional companies.

Art school will also benefit your art technique. Your innate talent will benefit from the proven concepts and techniques you can learn here.

Art school also develops in its students a love and appreciation for the different forms of art. It opens to the student new vistas of learning and expressing. Even if only for that reason, Art school would be worth every penny paid to it.

What You Won't Learn at Arts School

Art school, however, will not teach you passion and drive. You must have both and mix them with your innate talent and hard work. You have to develop an intimate relationship with your profession to be able to maximize your potential.

Choose a School

Different schools have different strengths, find a school that plays to your strengths and has specialization in the field of your choice. Some will have a style of teaching that maximizes your skills. Some will expose you to techniques that will make you twice a better artist than you already are. They key here is for you to know yourself. Know how you learn, what interests you, what your tendencies are. This will help you visualize how you will react when faced with the rigors of school.

Meet New Friends!

Do you know that at art school, many of your colleagues will go on to be successful artists? Everyone at your school will have varied skills and different strengths. Use your time as school wisely so that you get to meet these people and learn from them. They could learn a thing or two from you too!

School is an excellent place to build professional relationships. When you all go out into the industry, your connections and friendships will be instrumental to your success.

It would do no harm to start looking at the educational background of your admired artists. Checking out the schools they came from will give an idea of the sort of training these artists went through. From here, you may make decisions as to whether you would like to choose the same school as they did.

The Verdict? Sign Up for an Art School Today

Your choice of school is an investment that will last you a lifetime. Proper care and investigation in choosing such is truly important. When you are comfortable with your choice of design school, you can now chart your path towards a successful career.

Art school might be the most important decision you will make. Without proper training, your chances at success are greatly diminished. With Art schools you can be assured of a brighter, more artistic future!

Computing & Internet Books

Certification

CCENT is an acronym for 'Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician' and it is the first stage of the professional IT certification grade that leads up to Associate level. Other certification qualifications needed to attain Associate level are the CCNA together with the CCDA certifications. Studying for the CCENT brings you up to speed on basic networking skills such as network security and enabling you to install, configure and troubleshoot small branch networks and switched networks. During your CCNA study you will also learn how to implement and verify connections to remote sites via a WAN. Once you have got this certification under your belt there is the Cisco routing, switching and network design course to study for. To ensure you obtain your CCENT certification you will need to learn and understand a variety of protocols, such as:

oEnhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol [EIGRP]
oSerial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay
oRouting Information Protocol Version 2 [RIPv2]
oIP
oEthernet
oAccess control lists [ACLs].

There is a good range of books on certification courses in our Computing and Internet category on our website. You might like to take a look at 'Networking Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration Companion Guide' by Mark Dye. This book is an accredited and accepted by the Cisco Networking Academy Program and is the official supplemental textbook for the Network Fundamentals Course in the CCNA Exploration Curriculum Version 4. You might also take a look at 'CCENT/CCNA ICND1 Official Exam Certification Guide' written by Wendell Odom. This book is invaluable in preparing you for the exam and certification that follows.

Computer Science

Computer science is another branch of the diversity found amongst the computing and internet-based courses of study. It actually involves the more theoretical aspects of computation and how to apply practical techniques into the necessary algorithms to be processed by a computer. Obviously, computer science involves far more than that, but that is what computer science is about when taken down to its most basic element. As with any other field in the world of computing and internet, there is a wide variety of associated fields such as computer graphics, programming language theory, and human-computer interaction to name just a few.

Taking a look at our computer science section amongst the computing and internet category you will find a good range of books on the subject, such as 'Search Engine Optimization: an Hour a Day' written by Jennifer Grappone. A book that you might enjoy, amongst the computer science books because that is loosely the subject it covers is 'The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable'. It is written by Nassim Nicholas Taleb and has been described as 'provocative' by the Economist; 'idiosyncratically brilliant' by the Sunday Telegraph and 'a fascinating study of how we are regularly taken for suckers by the unexpected' by The Guardian newspaper. You will just have to read it to find out whether you agree with the critics or not!

Databases

Databases are records or files which are integral to the computer and which have been collected into a logically filed system, centrally filed where it can be easily located for one or more uses. Databases of this type are classified according to their content - i.e. full-text, numeric, image, bibliographic etc. There are different models that can be applied to how data are stored within a database. The model that is used most often is the relational model: others include the hierarchical model and the network model.

The structure of a database is what is described as a database model, described above. The database has to be used in conjunction with a database management system. The database model will be stored in a data dictionary. As mentioned above, the database model is used more often than any other model is the relational model. Key terminology that defines the relational model are:

oRelations - this is a table characterised by columns and rows. Each row is referred to as a tuples.
oAttributes - these are columns from the above table. Each column is named - and this is an attribute.
oDomains - each attribute is enabled to take a set of values. Each set of attributes is a domain.

In other words, a relational database refers to the table that is made up of columns and rows. Each column is named with an attribute [such as a phone number]. Each row is a specific instance of that entity [the name of a place that the phone number relates to]. Together, the whole forms a matrix and, within that matrix, is a series of information given about one single person or thing [the entity].

Computing and internet, as a subject, can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. However, within our computing and internet section you will find a wide range of books that relate to computing and internet from Larry Ullman's 'PHP6 and MySQL5 for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide' to Paula Moreira's 'ACE the IT Resume: Resumes and Cover Letters to Get You Hired'. Within our computing and internet category you will find a range of sub-sections such as Digital Lifestyle; Digital Music; Digital Photography; Digital Video; Hardware; Mac OS; Microsoft Windows; Networking and Security; New to Computing; PC and Video Games; Professionals; Programming; Software and Graphics; UNIX and Linux; and Web Development. Each of these categories have an enormous range of books of their own, but the best way to see what we have in our web site pages is to delve in and spend an hour or so browsing - you never know, you could strike gold!
