The Advantages Of Online CPR Certification

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is offered by many different types of organizations. The most common certification involves attending a course, often an advanced First Aid program, and then taking a written exam.

A more convenient and accessible approach would be to complete the whole certification process in the comfort of your own home by registering for an Online CPR Certification program. This approach does require more self discipline as it entails self-study. Examinations are taken online, via the organizations website. Provided you meet the evaluation criteria, you will be issued with a CPR Certificate, which you can print from your own computer!

There are many such programs available. Although they all have different features and might focus on different aspects and present the information in different ways, they all cover the identical CPR techniques and first aid procedures. It is best therefore to choose a program based on criteria which is important to you - such as pricing structure. You will find that there are programs which have a small fee which covers tuition, examinations, and certification. Other programs offer free tuition, but charge the fee for the actual certificate. If you suspect that you will take the course many times before qualifying, then consider the latter.

Some other criteria you may wish to consider in selecting a program, is whether or not the qualifications are recognized by organizations such as Red Cross or The American Heart Association. There are free online resources, such as online-cpr-certification.org, which can help you determine if the program is accredited with these organizations.

Finally, whilst online CPR certification does involve self-study, it is by no means boring or tedious. The simple, jargon-free text, and detailed diagrams is often supplemented with audio instructions, which brings the whole topic of CPR to life!

Should You Consider Getting A CNA Certification Online?

If you are hoping to become a CNA, a certified nursing assistant, you might be considering a CNA certification online. In some instances this might be quite acceptable, but if you are hoping to land a well paying job at a large medical facility with perhaps some room for advancement, you might want to research all your options before making a decision.

A CNA replaces the old fashioned Nurses Aids from years ago. Nurses Aids took care of tasks that nurses didn't have time for and sometimes just didn't want to do. Changing beds and handing out bedpans were typical chores that were handed off the aids. It didn't take a lot of training, and most of the training was done on the job once you were hired.

However, the industry changed dramatically in the 1980s as standards were changed, laws enacted, and patients' privacy issues were taken seriously. Nurses aids were phased out and the industry standard for that position became the CNA. And along with the new title came new educational programs and demands for excellence.

Any type of medical training demands two forms of study: classroom and hands on. You can't learn everything from a book, and when it comes to the daily tasks and chores of a CNA, most of the job entails tasks that need to be practiced over and over before being proficient in an actual job. This facet of the learning process is missing when it comes to any type of online training.

There are some programs available that give you a mixture of classroom and online learning. Check out courses that include webinars and white boards where you can interact with your teachers and even other students. Of course, the practical teachings you learn in this manner are still very restricted. You might be able to practice changing a bandage, but when it comes to learning how to hook up an IV bag or maneuver a hospital bed with a post op patient, it's impossible.

All the coursework in the world can't replace what you will be lacking in practical experience. If you are hoping to land a good job in a large hospital or rehab facility, you might be out of luck when it comes to job interviews. These facilities need people who have been fully trained in every area, and if you don't have what they are looking for, you'll be out of luck.

Just remember - you can pass your program with an A and you can ace your state exam, but if you haven't mastered all the hands on tasks you'll be responsible for mastering your first week on the job, you might be forced into taking extra courses to give you the practice you didn't get the first time around.

If you want to work in a big hospital, find out what schools they are affiliated with. Graduates of these programs are sought after in the industry and if you do well, you'll have your pick after graduation.

Evaluating a Spanish Translator Certification Program

Spanish translator certification programs are becoming more and more prevalent as more and more people realize the importance that Spanish translation plays and will continue to play now and in the future. In order to take advantage of all the opportunities brought about by an increase in Spanish speakers, those with a solid grasp of English and Spanish are taking advantage and looking for ways to become translators.

In order to better their prospects for getting business, translators often turn to Spanish translator certification programs to prove their abilities to future clients and employers. Spanish translator certification programs take many forms, but most are geared towards helping you pass various certification tests given by various translation organizations.

The translation industry, at least in the United States, is not governed as tightly as other industries, such as law, medicine, or accounting, and so a lot of confusion has arisen over time about what it really means to be certified as a translator. For other industries like the ones I just mentioned, there are national standardized tests that are rigidly controlled, and these tests must be passed before a person can be employed legally in that industry.

Translation is different. Because there is no body that has the legal right to enforce translation standardization, many people become confused with all the noise from various organizations offering their version of a Spanish translator certification program. Not only can it be confusing to (would-be) translators, but it is also confusing for potential clients.

So what should you look for if you become interested in taking part in a Spanish translator certification program? Well, there are a few things to keep in mind. The first is that although there is no federally recognized organization for governing translators in the U.S., there is a national organization that offers tests for translator certification. This organization is called the American Translators Association (ATA) and is generally recognized by most translators as being the de facto organization for translator certification in the United States.

Most Spanish translator certification programs, therefore, try to give translators enough knowledge and experience to be able to pass the ATA certification tests. There are other organizations throughout the world that offer translator certification, and in order to find them you can do a search for the country you are interested in.

If you are want to become an ATA certified translator, my suggestion would be to look for a Spanish translator certification program that will give you the best opportunity of passing the tests given by ATA. These programs can be offered as university degrees, night school classes, or even online courses. Whatever the method, becoming certified takes a lot of study and a lot of practice, but can reap big dividends throughout your translation career.

Establishing Metrics For Green Certification

Imagine the extrapolated vision of the Green business problem, if you will. If Green businesses are left to any device to earn a Green status, what is the value of Going Green? As it sits today, a Green business can self-certify in the most ridiculous ways imaginable. The first way to self-certification is to make any of a dozen Green improvements to the business, and to declare your business "Green." Perhaps the business now uses recycled paper and prints on both sides to conserve paper use. Meritorious, but far from a serious effort to transition to a Green operation. This is what is now termed a "Token Green" approach to Green business, and it is also part of the well-known form of Greenwashing.

The second misguided process for Green business certification is purchasing a Green business certification online. The fees range between $500 to $1500 depending on the size of the company, but don't be fooled by a well-designed website offering an impressive logo. These operations are obviously money-driven websites that justify their contribution to society by asking their "members" to complete various forms of self-assessment online. Regardless of the obvious invitation to "Game the System" offered by these online Green business certifications, hundreds upon hundreds of businesses will sign up for these scam-like programs.

Frankly, both of these forms of clandestine Green certifications are designed for ONE PRIMARY REASON, and that is to fool and deceive the public. Consumers who are seeking to spend their money with reputable Green businesses do not want to be deceived by a greenwashing program that fosters unproven Green claims. What prevents any misguided business from paying the fee, filling in the forms with lies, and proudly displaying the purchased logo to unsuspecting customers? Nothing, because the goals these websites set are negligible standards intended to attract more gullible businesses to pay a big fee for a pretty logo.

In a day of crisis issues and calls for transparency and ethics to properly address these world-threatening concerns, shouldn't there be a backlash of sharp rebuke for unproven and falsified claims of environmental compliance? Would we not be appalled at a doctor with false credentials treating us when we were sick? Does anyone want an amateur working on their car when the only real credentials were a correspondence course that he had his brother do for him? What if the meat department of your local grocery no longer required a physical inspection because a worker had completed an online certification course? Ridiculous, right?

Green business certification by self-acclamation or by online purchase is cheating at worst and greenwashing at best. Nonetheless, these two methods of Green certification are popular and widely practiced. Business people are pragmatic and tend toward the expedient solution when it seems feasible. Expedience is often the fool's path because the environment is such a serious issue. Eventual exposure will cause a serious backlash when the public eventually discovers how businesses are literally cheating the system.

Every business thinking about an imitation Green certification need only think forward a little to the day when that logo now showing on your website or store window gets some negative press. Eventually, it will come out that numerous businesses use the same purchased logo, but now are busted by an investigative reporter. We all know this will eventually happen because there are no checks and audits. Everything is secretly and privately accomplished by "online assessments" that are also falsely called audits. Audits cannot be conducted by the one being audited. That is a scam!

Presently, there is one program that has required a live audit for every single Green business certification. The Green Business League has never taken a fee for a blind certification. Every certification is assessed, Green improvements are documented, and certification is awarded based on audited achievements as a Green business. The Green Business League is the only company that has a trained field force of more than 300 Certified Green Consultants across America and Canada. These professionals provide an invaluable service. After the initial assessment, they map out a clear plan to achieve a verifiable Green business certification.

The choices are becoming more clear because the issues of ethics and transparency allow only one kind of decision. An audit cannot be a self-serving, clandestine, or deceptive decision. All the good done by a Green business certification will cause worse damage when the facts eventually come out. Many shallow Green business certifications will eventually become badges of shame because they were purchase to deceive the public, and the public will not be fooled for long.

To the credit of the Green Business League, the fact is that Going Green is not a token effort or one time purchase. Every GBL member has a Certified Green Consultant as a partner in its business success. Green certification is now part of a successful business plan. Greater efficiencies allow Green businesses to be more profitable and more attractive to other Green businesses. Certified Green Consultants assist all certified businesses throughout the year to maintain and improve the Green values that will pay large dividends for many years to come. In the larger view, the environment of the community, the country, and the world deserve more than a token or fake certification. This is not just another marketing ploy. If a business is seeking to Go Green, it should be an authentic Green business certification.

Michael Richmond is the director of the Green Business League, and primary trainer for the Certified Sustainability Officer program that trains in-house Green or Sustainability officers.

Six Sigma Certification - Team Building

Proper team building can be learned through Six Sigma certification courses. This can be taught through Six Sigma green belt training or lean Six Sigma courses. Productivity is the ultimate goal within a team, but sometimes some people cannot work together. There may not be a person on the team that is a leader who can ensure all tasks are getting done. Maybe communication is not occurring so one team member is waiting on another for completion of a task before they can get started with their work. The right team includes many things like a good team leader, an abundance of skills, communication, and more. A person must carefully decide which people would successfully complete a project or it could lead to a disaster.

When you carefully select a team, it is important to choose people who think differently than one another. Creativity is important. You might think you are choosing creative people but then find everyone you continue to choose seems to think the same way. Six Sigma certification courses can help you determine how to properly choose the right creative minds for projects and which people you want to put together. This will help you have the most creativity possible with your teams.

In addition to creativity, skill sets are vital in teams. If you choose a team of people who all are entry level with no skills then no one is going to learn anything and most likely the team won't be able to accomplish the task. A Six Sigma certification will teach you how to mix different skill sets together to get the best results. You can even learn this through Six Sigma online training courses too.

Team building is very important but there are many vital factors that must be considered prior to telling a group of people they must work together on something. You can learn about team building through a Six Sigma Certification program. You will learn how to get maximum productivity by choosing a team with the most creativity and widest range of skills.

Tony Jacowski is a quality analyst for The MBA Journal. Aveta Solutions - Six Sigma Online ( http://www.sixsigmaonline.org ) offers online six sigma training and certification classes for lean six sigma, black belts, green belts, and yellow belts.

Home Staging - Game, Art Form Or Marketing? the Definition of Today's Real Estate Necessity

Because the concept of home staging - preparing a home for sale in a specific way to appeal to the maximum number of buyers - people are always asking me what it is.

Is it purely marketing? I know that the presumption there would be : if home staging is marketing then why can't my realtor just do it as part of their marketing scheme?

Alright then, you hear people talking about the art of staging.... so then, is it an art-form? i.e. Do I need a real designer, with years of interior design training and an ASID certification? After all, this is my biggest asset, with a lot of money on the line.

Or is it a game? In which case, don't I need a coach, a playbook and a set of rules to follow? Are there boundaries? Who refs the thing?

Here's my answer:

For sure, it's a game. There's competition, a race against time, and the perception that if one side wins the other has lost. There's a better way to play, but I do define staging as a game. A game where when everyone wins the game has been played correctly.

Certainly it's an art-form, it's all about design. But it's a general form of design, so that the house appeals to the maximum number of people. Interior design is all about using the vast array of options to create the perfect space for one person/family.

Absolutely it's marketing, because it's all about presenting a property in its best light. Maybe you could even see it as "spin"... identifying every possible asset and putting it forward... and presenting every negative in a way that doesn't cover it up but shows you the "up" side.

So, what is home staging? It's a form of marketing that incorporates elements of design into a game where everyone wins. That game? The Home Appreciation Game - adding value to a cherished property now being offered for sale.

General Computer Skills Certification - Will it Help Your Job Search?

Computers are a major part of today's world, and they play an even larger role in the business world. Computers have replaced rolodexes, paper appointment schedulers and filing. Large corporations as well as small businesses have began utilizing computers for quicker, easier and more organized data tracking and their use undoubtedly makes the business day run more smoothly. With so many businesses making use of computers and their many means of software, knowledge of computers is essential to anyone in search of employment.

The Importance of General Computer Skills:
Most places of employment are fast paced and they want employees who won't fall behind. However, it is easy to fall behind when you aren't the least bit familiar with computers and at least the most frequently utilized software programs (such as Microsoft Word). When an employee doesn't know where to begin when it comes to computer usage, others fall behind as well because they have to take the time to teach that employee the basics of computers. Most businesses are not willing to train employees who lack general computer skills; therefore they will not hire the job seeker whose resume fails to display such knowledge.

Businesses expect employees and candidates for employment to be able to turn a computer on and off, sign in and out of programs, enter data into a database, compose documents and create presentations, get online and navigate the Internet for use of email and research at the very least. Many particular positions and companies will also ask that employees and potential employees be familiar with more advanced computer programs and means of use (such as the latest computer operating systems, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).

Why a General Computer Skills Certificate Won't Guarantee a Job?
Knowledge of computers is obviously helpful and even necessary to succeed in your search for employment, yet acquiring a general computer skills certificate won't guarantee you a job. This is because employers expect candidates to possess general computer skills, and many who have this general understanding of computers didn't acquire those skills through a training course unless they were veteran employees and received training through the company that new employees would not be afforded. Chances are if you use a computer at home you have these general skills. You can list the software programs and functionality you are familiar with on your resume and it would hold as much meaning as a certificate. However, if you don't utilize computers in your daily life, like many veteran employees and job seekers, a general computer skills certificate can help you in your job searchand show employers that you are as competent as your competitors.

Get Ahead in Your Job Search and Place of Employment with General Computer Skills:
Whether or not you are going into a field that is directly related to computers, it is likely you will use them on a regular basis. There are many courses offered that teach general computer skills, as well as advanced skills and software specific courses and they are worth taking; they help obtain and sustain a job. Knowing computers well comes with the frequent use of them, but a general knowledge is all you need to get ahead in your job search and get your foot in a place of employment's door.

Phlebotomy Certification Organizations - Which To Choose?

There are a number of organizations which offer phlebotomy certification programs and courses. However, not all are reputable or teach according to standards set by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).

When deciding on a suitable phlebotomy certification training program, look for an organization that is accredited or approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), uses materials and examinations that reflect CLSI standards, and qualifies graduates for an examination through an external certification agency.

There are ten nationally recognized certifying agencies in the United States. Some of these agencies include the American Certification Agency, the American Medical Technologists, and the National Center for Competency Testing, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the National Phlebotomy Association. The requirements to become a certified phlebotomist vary by agency and are outlined below.

The American Certification Agency (ACA) for Healthcare Professionals offers two types of certification for phlebotomists; phlebotomy technicians and phlebotomy instructors. To be eligible for the phlebotomy technician exam, applicants must have completed 100 clinical hours, 100 successful venipunctures and 10 successful dermal punctures (although 25 are required in Louisiana). The exam is written online in combination with a practical component. Phlebotomy instructor applicants must be phlebotomy certified or a registered RN or LPN. No written exam is required; however applicants must provide documented proof of three years phlebotomy experience and one year teaching experience.

The American Medical Technologists (AMT) offers phlebotomist certification. Applicants must have graduated from a phlebotomy program accredited by the US Department of Education, a program accredited by the Regional Accrediting Commission, a phlebotomy program consisting of 120 hours of instruction and 120 hours of clinical practicum, or have completed at least 1,040 hours of acceptable work experience in the last three years. In each case, the applicant must have completed a minimum of 50 successful venipunctures and 25 successful skin punctures. AMT offers a number of resources to applicants, including a downloadable candidate handbook, exam outline, reference materials, and practice test.

The National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) offers phlebotomist and donor phlebotomist certification. Both certification types require the applicant to possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy applicants must also be graduates of an approved phlebotomy program or possess one year of experience. The NCCT also requires a phlebotomy performance form. In California and Louisiana, additional performance forms are required. To become a certified donor phlebotomist, the applicant must possess six months of donor phlebotomist experience, including 80 successful donor collections. Applications can be submitted electronically or in hard copy, both forms are available on the NCCT website.

For more information on phlebotomist certification, visit the "Phlebotomy Certification Guide" website. Here you will learn how become certified, find jobs, and information about the phlebotomy certification organizations. If you are interested in becoming a phlebotomist, this is the site for you!

EMTs and paramedics are usually dispatched by a 911 operator to the scene where the often will deal with automobile accidents, heart attacks, childbirth, gun shot wounds and a variety of situations that require immediate medical attention.

EMTs have different duties and responsibilities based on their training and certification. An EMT's salary is often different based on their experience, training, and location. Typically, most EMTs are certified to one of five levels that are administered by NREMT, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. The five NREMT certifications are: First Responder, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate/85, EMT-Intermediate/99 and Paramedic. There are also state by state levels and licensure requirements that may differ from the NREMT's certifications.

The NREMT maintains multiple EMT certification levels that represent a ladder of increasing knowledge skills and abilities for an EMS professional. The different NREMT certification levels are summarized below:

NREMT Certifications

First Responder - Entry level EMS services. Provides basic first response first aid and patient management. Almost all police and fire agencies require their employees to be first responders.

EMT-Basic (EMT-B) - This certification level provides basic life support.

Intermediate/85 (EMT-I) - NREMT certification level based on the 1985 EMT-Intermediate National Standard Curriculum.

Intermediate/99 - (EMT-I) - NREMT certification level based on the 1999 EMT-Intermediate National Standard Curriculum.

Paramedic - (EMT-P) - This is the highest level of EMT certification supported by the NREMT. Paramedics can administer a wide range of medication, provide advanced life support, and perform advanced surgical and electrical therapies.

What Will You Learn at a School For Video Game Design?

Game design school is a great place to go if your career dreams lie in the field of game design and development. Because this is a relatively new and emerging industry, game design courses must be updated regularly. Many colleges simply do not update the course content as much as they should and as such subjects taught may be somewhat outdated. Specific game design schools on the other hand specialize in this subject only so they stay on top of new industry trends and technology. This is vital for the student who wants to leave school with relevant skills in order to become employed in this exciting industry.

Game designers must have many attributes. First and foremost you must be creative, innovative and intelligent. You should also have technical skills as even game artists use computer software. Programmers obviously must have the required programming skills such as C++ and other specified languages.

Game designers also learn to be team players at game design school. Being able to communicate with a team is the key to developing a great game. Because each person in the term plays an important role in the finished product, if communication is poor then the game will not come together as planned. Meeting deadlines is also a priority and game design schools will touch on that topic as well.

One of the best game design schools is the Collins College which offers a bachelor's degree in Game design. You will learn C++, Java, 3ds max and AI. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to work within the game research and planning stage, character development, level design, modeling and project management.

The ITT Technical Institute offers a The Digital Entertainment and Game Design program and covers subjects like gaming technology, game design process, animation, and level design.

The Digital Media Arts College is a very well equipped technical college. At the DMAC, you can take advantage of industry-standard animation tools, 3D software, and imaging technologies and work with experts from such companies as SEGA, ImageWorks and Disney.

The best game design schools will have relationships with game development companies whereby work placement and even employment can be guaranteed upon completion of the course.

Choosing a great game design school will mean the difference between success and failure. Making the right decision is the best way to get a start in this highly competitive industry.

Four Steps in Successfully Passing Your PMP Certification Exam

Successfully passing the PMP certification exam may be your ticket to more job benefits, more job responsibilities and more job opportunities. Thus, it is of utmost importance that you achieve it regardless of its stress levels.

Fortunately, you can adopt these four steps towards the PMP certification exam. Of course, these can also be applied to any and all certification exams that you might take in the future.

Do Your Exam Research

You have to investigate the subject matters covered by the certification program administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) for project managers. You must also do your research about the depth and level with which you must study the subject matter, which will determine the areas you will need to pour more attention to.

Doing your research also makes it possible to identify strengths and weaknesses in your current knowledge. This way, you can improve on the weaknesses and refresh on the strengths, which ought to maximize your chances at passing the PMI-administered certification exam.

PMI only recommends one bible in its exams. This is called "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide)", which is recognized by the American National Standards Institute. Just refer to the PMBOK and you are in good hands.

Study and Study Some More

You will need at least 35 hours of PMI-sanctioned project management education before you can take the PMP certification exam. In this training-cum-review course, you will be able to study all that you need to know to pass the exam. Just remember to look for a reputable company that offers this training course!

With 200 multiple choice questions to be accomplished in just four hours, the PMI exam is definitely not child's play. There are more than 40 formulas to be memorized and understood and many more acronyms and their meanings to be read and digested! Thus, diligent study is imperative for passing the PMP certification exam.

Assess Your Readiness

The hallmark of an excellent project management preparation course is the presence of practice exams. There must be at least two of these in order to hone your skills in answering the time-pressured exam.

You must aim for the passing grade and then add 10% to account for the nerves and excitement when taking the real exam. (Better safe than sorry) When testing your readiness, always make sure that you are closely mimicking the environment of the testing center including the time limits.

Prepare Yourself

Before the day of the actual PMP certification exam, there are things you must perform to prepare yourself. First, scout out the testing center. This way, you can familiarize yourself with the route and the room itself. You cannot afford to be late!

Second, get a good night's sleep. There is nothing worse than answering questions on sleep-deprived body and mind. Third, eat your breakfast. Not only is it the most important meal of the day but a low sugar level will adversely affect your concentration. And do your ablutions! You need to feel fresh and you cannot waste time on bathroom breaks once too often.

Fourth, don't bring anything you don't need into the testing center. You will only be distracted, which is definitely not good for you.

And now, you are ready to take the PMP certification exam and pass with flying colors!

Visit ThreeO.ca today to secure the best possible PMP exam preparation course to pass the PMP exam. And when you do pass the PMP certification exam, expect the doors of opportunities to open up for you!

Art Schools - The Artist's Choice!

Is Art School necessary to be a good artist?

Being creative or artistic is truly a gift, a talent. But as with any talent, it needs to be tempered, honed, and optimized. Without proper training, one might never achieve the potential he or she was born with. And to help you hone your talents, you will need a good Art school!

Any educational institution that offers training in the arts may be called an art school.

They may offer vocational, undergraduate, or graduate and even post-graduate courses.

These schools focus their trainings on the visual arts such as illustration, painting, advertising design, graphical arts, photography, sculpture, and other artistic expressions. In the last few years, even game design has become institutionalized. This means that the art of designing game graphics has become serious business.

If the college is accredited it will grant you a Bachelor' degree in Fine Arts or a B. A. in Fine Arts or some other certification and degree.

A successful future in the Arts industry depends on choosing the right school to hone your talents. When choosing an Art school, consider the following factors.

What Can You Benefit from an Art School?

You may be tempted to think you will be able to wing it through a career without any formal training. That is possible. However, since industries are constantly looking for professionals who can abide by industry standards, those with Art degrees get a competitive edge. Also, in Arts school you learn from other professionals what these industries expect of their artists. This helps you be more prepared for work with professional companies.

Art school will also benefit your art technique. Your innate talent will benefit from the proven concepts and techniques you can learn here.

Art school also develops in its students a love and appreciation for the different forms of art. It opens to the student new vistas of learning and expressing. Even if only for that reason, Art school would be worth every penny paid to it.

What You Won't Learn at Arts School

Art school, however, will not teach you passion and drive. You must have both and mix them with your innate talent and hard work. You have to develop an intimate relationship with your profession to be able to maximize your potential.

Choose a School

Different schools have different strengths, find a school that plays to your strengths and has specialization in the field of your choice. Some will have a style of teaching that maximizes your skills. Some will expose you to techniques that will make you twice a better artist than you already are. They key here is for you to know yourself. Know how you learn, what interests you, what your tendencies are. This will help you visualize how you will react when faced with the rigors of school.

Meet New Friends!

Do you know that at art school, many of your colleagues will go on to be successful artists? Everyone at your school will have varied skills and different strengths. Use your time as school wisely so that you get to meet these people and learn from them. They could learn a thing or two from you too!

School is an excellent place to build professional relationships. When you all go out into the industry, your connections and friendships will be instrumental to your success.

It would do no harm to start looking at the educational background of your admired artists. Checking out the schools they came from will give an idea of the sort of training these artists went through. From here, you may make decisions as to whether you would like to choose the same school as they did.

The Verdict? Sign Up for an Art School Today

Your choice of school is an investment that will last you a lifetime. Proper care and investigation in choosing such is truly important. When you are comfortable with your choice of design school, you can now chart your path towards a successful career.

Art school might be the most important decision you will make. Without proper training, your chances at success are greatly diminished. With Art schools you can be assured of a brighter, more artistic future!

Computing & Internet Books

Certification

CCENT is an acronym for 'Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician' and it is the first stage of the professional IT certification grade that leads up to Associate level. Other certification qualifications needed to attain Associate level are the CCNA together with the CCDA certifications. Studying for the CCENT brings you up to speed on basic networking skills such as network security and enabling you to install, configure and troubleshoot small branch networks and switched networks. During your CCNA study you will also learn how to implement and verify connections to remote sites via a WAN. Once you have got this certification under your belt there is the Cisco routing, switching and network design course to study for. To ensure you obtain your CCENT certification you will need to learn and understand a variety of protocols, such as:

oEnhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol [EIGRP]
oSerial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay
oRouting Information Protocol Version 2 [RIPv2]
oIP
oEthernet
oAccess control lists [ACLs].

There is a good range of books on certification courses in our Computing and Internet category on our website. You might like to take a look at 'Networking Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration Companion Guide' by Mark Dye. This book is an accredited and accepted by the Cisco Networking Academy Program and is the official supplemental textbook for the Network Fundamentals Course in the CCNA Exploration Curriculum Version 4. You might also take a look at 'CCENT/CCNA ICND1 Official Exam Certification Guide' written by Wendell Odom. This book is invaluable in preparing you for the exam and certification that follows.

Computer Science

Computer science is another branch of the diversity found amongst the computing and internet-based courses of study. It actually involves the more theoretical aspects of computation and how to apply practical techniques into the necessary algorithms to be processed by a computer. Obviously, computer science involves far more than that, but that is what computer science is about when taken down to its most basic element. As with any other field in the world of computing and internet, there is a wide variety of associated fields such as computer graphics, programming language theory, and human-computer interaction to name just a few.

Taking a look at our computer science section amongst the computing and internet category you will find a good range of books on the subject, such as 'Search Engine Optimization: an Hour a Day' written by Jennifer Grappone. A book that you might enjoy, amongst the computer science books because that is loosely the subject it covers is 'The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable'. It is written by Nassim Nicholas Taleb and has been described as 'provocative' by the Economist; 'idiosyncratically brilliant' by the Sunday Telegraph and 'a fascinating study of how we are regularly taken for suckers by the unexpected' by The Guardian newspaper. You will just have to read it to find out whether you agree with the critics or not!

Databases

Databases are records or files which are integral to the computer and which have been collected into a logically filed system, centrally filed where it can be easily located for one or more uses. Databases of this type are classified according to their content - i.e. full-text, numeric, image, bibliographic etc. There are different models that can be applied to how data are stored within a database. The model that is used most often is the relational model: others include the hierarchical model and the network model.

The structure of a database is what is described as a database model, described above. The database has to be used in conjunction with a database management system. The database model will be stored in a data dictionary. As mentioned above, the database model is used more often than any other model is the relational model. Key terminology that defines the relational model are:

oRelations - this is a table characterised by columns and rows. Each row is referred to as a tuples.
oAttributes - these are columns from the above table. Each column is named - and this is an attribute.
oDomains - each attribute is enabled to take a set of values. Each set of attributes is a domain.

In other words, a relational database refers to the table that is made up of columns and rows. Each column is named with an attribute [such as a phone number]. Each row is a specific instance of that entity [the name of a place that the phone number relates to]. Together, the whole forms a matrix and, within that matrix, is a series of information given about one single person or thing [the entity].

Computing and internet, as a subject, can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. However, within our computing and internet section you will find a wide range of books that relate to computing and internet from Larry Ullman's 'PHP6 and MySQL5 for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide' to Paula Moreira's 'ACE the IT Resume: Resumes and Cover Letters to Get You Hired'. Within our computing and internet category you will find a range of sub-sections such as Digital Lifestyle; Digital Music; Digital Photography; Digital Video; Hardware; Mac OS; Microsoft Windows; Networking and Security; New to Computing; PC and Video Games; Professionals; Programming; Software and Graphics; UNIX and Linux; and Web Development. Each of these categories have an enormous range of books of their own, but the best way to see what we have in our web site pages is to delve in and spend an hour or so browsing - you never know, you could strike gold!

ESL Game 10 - The Spelling Race

This ESL Game is one of my most popular games of all time! All of the students love to compete against one another to see who the best is... and this game always awards the best! This ESL Game is basically just a spelling race. When I say, "Spelling Race," I mean two students will come up to the board; the teacher will say a word and the two students will try to write the word. Which ever student writes the word correctly first wins.

Write every students name on the board like so:

1. Bill
2. Sally
3. Tom
4. Jerry
5. Susan
6. Jim
7. Candy
8. Jack
9. Toby
10. Mitch
11. Pat
12. Mary Jo

Call up the first two students. Say a word for them to write. Which ever student loses the spelling race ~ erase their name

EX.
Round 1

1. Bill
2. X
3. Tom
4. X
5. X
6. Jim
7. Candy
8. X
9. X
10. Mitch
11. X
12. Mary Jo

( The X means that they are out of the game. )
In round 2 the ESL students that won the first round of the spelling race will battle each other in another spelling race.

EX.
Round 2

1. Bill
3. X
6. X
7. Candy
10. Mitch
12. X

Depending on the amount of ESL students that are in your class ~ you may have three students in the finals. For the final round... I usually get the students to write three words. The winner of the spelling race is the student that is student which wins the final round:

Ex.
Final Round

1. X
7. X
10 Mitch ( Mitch is the winner and the best speller in the class!)

Good luck teaching English! Try this game in your class the next time that you are doing spelling; the students will absolutely love it!

Riding Instructor Certification and Licensing

Marie has been teaching hunt seat for almost 10 years. As a junior rider, she had a successful show career with her two horses. As an adult rider, she has ridden in advanced lessons and clinics with well-known and talented professionals. She is an excellent teacher of both children and adults, and she certainly has the experience and knowledge to teach beginner riders; however, she is not licensed or certified.

Some states, like Massachusetts, require horseback riding instructors to be state licensed. To gain a license in Massachusetts, an instructor hopeful must perform a 6-month apprenticeship with a licensed riding instructor, 60 hours of which must be teaching mounted students under direct supervision of that licensed instructor. Instructor apprentices must also pass a written exam.

"There should be some sort of license or certification program for riding instructors," said Paula, mother of a riding student. "We put our kids' lives in their hands. We should have something that says they're capable of that responsibility."

Certification programs exist in the United States including the American Riding Instructor's Association (ARIA) and the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA). These associations offer clinics and testing sites.

So if the opportunity is there, why wouldn't someone like Marie not be licensed or certified? First, her state doesn't have a licensing program. And second, in a word--cost.

"I would love to be certified," Marie explains. "But I can't afford the cost involved." Marie teaches at a riding school, like most riding instructors in the area. And, like most instructors like her, she doesn't have change to spare.

Both ARIA and CHA charge close to $600 for certification testing. Additionally, they require yearly membership fees and yearly renewal fees. "That's like a week a half's pay for me," Marie explains.

In contrast, the Massachusetts license application is $20. If a state license program were available to Marie for a minimal cost, such as that of Massachusetts, would she do it? "Of course! I think it would be great for instructors, students and the industry," she said.

In addition to riding instructors, riding stables in Massachusetts must be licensed as well at a cost of about $100.

Similar to Massachusetts, Maryland requires state license of riding stables. According to the Maryland Department of Agriculture, "Licensing helps ensure that animals in commercial stables are cared for in a safe, sanitary manner and that horses used in the riding stable are fit for that purpose." The Maryland Department of Agriculture inspects licensed riding stables annually.

Taking a CNA Certification Test

After you have completed a CNA training course that is approved by the State Board of Nursing, you will be ready to apply to take your certification test. Your paperwork will be filed by the instructor of your course with the board of nursing so that you can be added to a testing list. You will need to wait until you receive your written notice telling you when and where you will take your exam.

There will be two parts to your certification exam. One part will be the written portion based on the medical procedures and information you learned. There will also be questions with various scenarios of situations that you will encounter as a nursing assistant. Some questions will pertain to things like maintaining a patient's privacy and acting safely at all times.

The written portion of the test will usually take at least an hour and up to two hours. This test can have up to about 100 examination questions. Usually the exam is presented in multiple choice format. You can prepare for this portion of the test by using any books and study guides that you have from your training classes. It will probably take you anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to complete this test.

After everyone taking the certification exam that day completes the written test, you will be ready to move on to the skills portion. Each person will test individually for this part of the examination. You will need to practice several of the skills that you learned during your CNA Training. In most cases, you will be asked to demonstrate about 5 skills. Some of the tasks that you might be asked to model include: changing a patient's bed, taking vital signs, feeding a patient or repositioning a patient. Of course, you can be tested on anything that you learned during your CNA training.

During the skills test the examiner will be grading you on your performance. If you make a simple mistake, it might be the difference between passing or failing. This is why it is so important to take your time during the test. Do not allow your nervousness to trip you up during your examination.

You will need to pass both parts of the test in order to become a certified nursing assistant. If you do not pass the test, you will be instructed as to how and when you can retake the exam.

When you are preparing for your CNA certification test, you will want to study everything you learned during your training. You can use books, study guides and even tests from your class. You will also want to practice the various tasks that you will need to accomplish as a certified nursing assistant. This is when it can benefit you to ask a friend or loved one if you can "practice" some of those tasks on them. You might practice taking vital signs or even helping to feed a patient.

If you take your time during the test and are well prepared you are well on your way to becoming a nursing assistant.

Surgical Technologist Salary Range

The availability of jobs for surgical technologists is expected to grow much faster than average according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This is especially true for certified surgical technologists. This is a good field to get into since there will be jobs available, and the training only takes from 9 months to 2 years depending on which program you choose.

The surgical technologist salary can vary based on whether or not the technologist is certified, which type of industry the technologist works in, where the technologist works, and the amount of experience a technologist has. This means there is a wide range of in salaries. According to the BLS, the mean annual surgical tech salary in May 2007 was $38,800, with the top 10% making more than $52,500 and the bottom 10% making less than $26,650 per year. This is a pretty wide salary range, but you can make some choices over the industry and location where you work that can make it more likely that you will receive a pay rate on the higher end of the salary scale for surgical technicians.

The industries with the highest surgical technologist pay are other ambulatory health care services ($45,430), employment services ($45,210), home health care services ($43,820), medical and diagnostic laboratories ($43,180), and offices of other health care practitioners ($42,870). However, most surgical technologists are employed by general medical and surgical hospitals, offices of physicians, outpatient care centers, offices of dentists, and employment services. The best chance for a high surgical technologist salary seems to be with employment services.

The states with the highest surgical tech salary are Alaska ($50,000), Connecticut ($47,620), Hawaii ($46,720), California ($45,400), and Nevada ($45,020). When looking at the surgical technology income for a certain location you need to be sure to take into account the cost of living in that area as well since sometimes the salary is particularly high because the cost of living is high in that area as well.

Experience definitely makes a difference when it comes to the surgical technologist salary. According to PayScale the median annual starting salary for someone with less than one year of experience is $31,824 and the median annual salary for a surgical tech with 20 years or more experience is $50,000.

Many employers prefer to hire surgical technologists that are certified, so passing the certification test and keeping your certification current is a good way to increase your chances of getting a good job, and it is likely you will receive higher pay as well.

ESL Game 15 - The Crocodile Game

If you want to become the best ESL teacher in your school; then learn from the best ESL teachers in the world. This is one of the best ESL Games and there is no reason why you shouldn't be playing it in your classroom! This ESL Game is called, "The Crocodile ESL Game." I wish that I could show a picture of this Crocodile, but I can't. But if you have ever been to Toys R Us or any other toy store then you would have seen the Big Green Crocodile that has his mouth wide open.

The way that you play this game is you can push down one of its teeth at a time. There are about 12 teeth, and if you push down the wrong tooth ~ the crocodile's mouth will close on your hand. If the crocodile bites you...that would mean that you lose. This is a fun game and the crocodile toy is cheap to buy... so do yourself a favor and pick one up. The way to play this ESL game while teaching English at the same time is to have the ESL students practice their English before they play the game.

I like to have every student stand up. I will usually ask them a question with regards to some subject which we are studying/reviewing. After all of the students have answered a question... I will divide the class into two teams. The two teams will make two lines. Line Team 1 and Line Team 2.

The first student in line from team 1 will get to push down one tooth. After his/her turn, he/she will go to the end of the line. Then it will be the other teams turn. Keep having the student who just had a turn go to the end of the line. When the crocodile bites one of the student's hands ~ the other team is awarded a point on the blackboard. The team with the most points at the end of the class is the winner!

Affiliate Marketing on Steroids - Make $100+ a Day Without Spending a Dime

Is it really possible to make $100+ a day without spending money on AdWords, advertising or even hosting? The answer is yes, and more people are doing it than you think. If you do affiliate marketing well, you can make over $3,000 a month - Without spending a single darned penny of your own money.

Here's how:

Understanding the System

The first step is to understand exactly how the system works. The best way to do that is to learn a proven system from someone who's actually done it in the past.

A lot of people start their internet businesses without having a full game plan. For example, they'll spend weeks designing a great website or building content, without understanding how to market it.

Or they'll start driving traffic, without really understanding how to sell the people who land on their website once they get there.

This is a terrible way to build a business and accounts for many of the online business failures. The way forward is not to blindly start building websites. Instead, start by understanding a full system beginning to end, then commit to finishing what you started, then take the first step.

Make $100+ a Day the Easy Way

When you first get started, it's best to stick with simple sales letters and simple ways to drive traffic. There are many complex ways to do things like negotiating JVs or doing PPC, but to start it's best to just start out the easy way.

What's the easy way?

Getting targeted traffic, people who are ready to buy, to a simple sales letter and selling them.

You might be thinking "What?! That's too easy!" The reality is that it is that easy - Most people just don't stick to a system long enough to get their results.

Before you get started, you need to understand how to write a review that sells. The goal isn't to be a pushy sales person, but to guide the user to the decision to buy.

Then, you have to understand how to get traffic. This involves well known techniques like blog and ping, article marketing, etc, as well as little known techniques like multi-user blogs and other "ninja tactics."

Once you have a system that works, then you can replicate it. Making your first few hundred dollars online is the hardest part. Once you get that part down, then all you need to do is copy the system over and over and over again.

It'll tell you everything you need to know about choosing products, writing a compelling website and driving traffic... Simply visit my site and get your hands on your free step-by-step blueprint! The Pros and Cons of Buying Used Video Games

For every type of gaming console (Wii, Xbox, Playstation, etc) there are hundreds of games created specifically for that system. It can be difficult to keep up with each game that is released, and your wallet can take a heavy hit as well. If you're an avid gamer with one or more of these consoles, is it worth it to buy all of those games new? An alternative option is to buy used video games. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

1.Price. Buying used is much cheaper than buying a video game brand new. The price difference can be around $20 to $30, depending on the game's popularity and age. Thus with the amount of money you save buying used, you can turn around and buy even more games than you could if you buy them new. Also, if you end up not liking a game, it's a better feeling to know you got it for cheap instead of shelling out the full price.

Cons:

1.Quality can be less. A scratched or otherwise disfigured game can mean no playing. But these days, most games are checked for problems before they are sold and are usually returnable if there is a problem. So it's unlikely that you will sacrifice a lot of quality just to get a good price for it.

2.Missing parts. When you buy a used game, you run the risk of buying it without the booklet or original case. If this is important to you, do more thorough research into an item before buying it. But if you just want the game, then this really shouldn't be an issue.

The Old School Game Vault ( http://www.wcityauctions.com/ ) Our offers to those selling video games are even higher than the money you can make if you sell games or consoles on ebay, with less hassle.

SEO in Public Relations Crisis Management

People hate bad surprises, businesses hate them as well. And then comes "the trouble" - something very not good happened and it put the business into the critical situation when even second of time matters.

Public relations, as one of the multiple tools of crisis management, has to be applied instantly, because the hours of silence can cost a lot in proving your position. The same story is valid for online businesses. Even more, the Internet is more open to information and - logically - to media attacks.

Can SEO be used as part of PR media campaign when time is a crucial value?

Most likely - the answer is negative. When it comes to the urgency of minutes and hours - then the only SEO strategy that you can use is to play with the hot keywords (like 'product name' or 'company name') and hope that to get ranked quickly for your video on YouTube or your page on a social network account.

And the traditional SEO in its biggest part - the power of backlinks - can be used only for the strategies that are preventive by their nature. Because it will take months and months before backlinks can "glue" your positions on the potentially dangerous keywords. However when this is done, this barrier of positive information in search engines for your major searches, will help to you protect your brand from the media attacks aimed at killing your brand.

So, whereas most of the SEO inventory cannot be used for quick solutions in the short-term period, still the companies which are planning the major crisis patterns and planning their activity against these threats can use the long-term power of SEO, to secure the informational channels on the important keywords with laser targeted precision.

Public discussion about public relations techniques and SEO is live on this blog post. Your relevant feedback will be highly appreciated in blog comments.

Try This Management Game Plan: Play to Your Strengths

We've all heard it before: "Play to your strengths." Yet in practice, few of us expend the time and energy necessary to identify and then meaningfully enhance our core strengths. Instead, we remain shackled by cultural patterns and habits that cause us to focus disproportionately on developing or "fixing" our weaknesses.

Before you call the men in the white coats to come and get me, you should understand that I'm not advocating that you ignore your weaknesses. Rather, my argument is for a more balanced approach that gives, at a minimum, proportional weight to developing your strengths. Before we can understand why, we need to shed some light on the overwhelming habit most of us have of focusing on our weak areas instead of on our strengths.

From a very early age, we are taught and conditioned to remedy our weaknesses, but not necessarily develop our strengths. For example, once you learned to balance on a 2-wheeled bicycle (overcoming your weakness), how much time did your parents actively spend with you teaching you how to ride it better? Probably not much.

As we progress into the educational system, we see even more examples of single-mindedly pursuing perceived weaknesses - like in elementary school when we're asked to write misspelled words three times each after a spelling test. Were you ever asked to practice using the words that you spelled correctly on the test? Probably not.

As adults, many of us have been exposed to a variety of "assessments" of our performance, our behavior, our intelligence, and our attitudes. Think back to the last assessment you took. The action plan that resulted probably focused much more on helping you focus on and develop your "weak" areas than your strengths. Even worse, many of us have come to take our strengths for granted.

We pay a price for this approach.

Let's consider baseball player Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants for some additional perspective. Barry's core strength is hitting home runs and long balls. Statistically speaking, one of his weaknesses is bunting. What if, at the end of the season, Barry met with his manager who - after assessing Barry's performance and choosing to focus only on his weaknesses as most of us tend to do - decided that Barry needed to address his weakness in bunting during the off season? As a result, Barry might be sent to bunting school.

Fast forward to next year's Spring training and, for sure, Barry will be a better bunter. But he'll only be an incrementally better bunter, certainly not of world-class caliber. Much more importantly, it is likely that his big swing suffered while he was so focused on learning how to bunt.

Barry's story illuminates the steep, stealthy price we pay for this approach: if we single-mindedly pursue our weaknesses, our strengths will suffer. It's not a matter of merely stagnating -- our strengths actually begin to weaken. Although learning new things and improving weakness are important, it shouldn't occur in a vacuum, and certainly not at the expense of those things we already consider to be our strengths.

Can you readily identify and list your strengths? In all likelihood, they are what enabled you to get where you are in life, both personally and professionally. So why not focus on them and try to improve them? After all, your core strengths will also be providing most of the propulsion to get you where you want to go. In addition, you'll have more fun when you get to do more of the things that you know you do well.

As you become more mindful of your own tendency to focus on weaknesses at the expense of your strengths, and come to understand the price you are paying as a result, it becomes easier to make choices to change your circumstances. For example, if you're of world-class caliber in a particular niche and you'd like to go into business for yourself, you might choose to find a partner who has deep sales and marketing expertise in the same niche. Too often, we try to "do it all," which forces us to focus disproportionately on our weaknesses (in this case, it's hard to pay the bills without sales!) instead of seeking to leverage our strengths in combination with the complimentary strengths of others.

Can you readily identify and list your weaknesses? Might it be possible to surround yourself with individuals who possess your weaknesses as their strengths? Could there be other, creative ways for you to overcome some of your weak areas without necessarily having to develop them formally?

Although you will ultimately deal with them differently, it is important to clearly understand your own strengths and weaknesses. We have blind spots, however that often prevent us from seeing them as clearly and as critically as we should. For example, when there are no mirrors around, you might ask a friend how you look. Similarly, to better know ourselves it is often beneficial to ask those near to us for their input.

An assessment might be helpful as well, provided that you resist the temptation to only focus on your weak areas. If you have 10 minutes to spare and are interested in taking a free assessment that is solely focused on highlighting strengths, go to http://www.authentichappiness.com (affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania) and take the VIA Signature Strengths Questionnaire, which you'll find just one click from their homepage. You might be genuinely surprised to discover what you have going for yourself!

As with so many other things, balance and perspective are important as you contemplate your strengths and weaknesses. Our culture and forces of habit, however often prevent us from finding the balance.

For most of us, the concept of "playing to our strengths" is just that -- an idea. In truth, and by default, we most often focus on our weaknesses, which actually cost us some of our strengths. Why continue focus, strive, and work to become a mediocre bunter when - through some different choices - you can further enhance your world-class standing as a home run hitter instead? In other words, what's good for Barry Bonds' career in baseball -- in word and in deed, playing to strengths -- would be good for you and yours too.
