The Pros and Cons of Buying Used Video Games

For every type of gaming console (Wii, Xbox, Playstation, etc) there are hundreds of games created specifically for that system. It can be difficult to keep up with each game that is released, and your wallet can take a heavy hit as well. If you're an avid gamer with one or more of these consoles, is it worth it to buy all of those games new? An alternative option is to buy used video games. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:

1.Price. Buying used is much cheaper than buying a video game brand new. The price difference can be around $20 to $30, depending on the game's popularity and age. Thus with the amount of money you save buying used, you can turn around and buy even more games than you could if you buy them new. Also, if you end up not liking a game, it's a better feeling to know you got it for cheap instead of shelling out the full price.

Cons:

1.Quality can be less. A scratched or otherwise disfigured game can mean no playing. But these days, most games are checked for problems before they are sold and are usually returnable if there is a problem. So it's unlikely that you will sacrifice a lot of quality just to get a good price for it.

2.Missing parts. When you buy a used game, you run the risk of buying it without the booklet or original case. If this is important to you, do more thorough research into an item before buying it. But if you just want the game, then this really shouldn't be an issue.
