ASE can be said as automotive service excellence. During the early 1970's, people did not have any ways to differentiate between competent mechanics as well as incompetent mechanics. In order to have a solution and also have a response to this issue, nonprofit automotive service excellence was established during the year 1972. The only motto for this nonprofit institute is to provide vehicle repair in a quality way and also to produce service through service professionals and also the service through testing and certifying the repairs. Almost there are 400,000 candidates are currently holding their ASE certification across 120 countries. Every successfully certified candidate is working for several automotive industries like fleets, service stations, truck as well as car dealerships, franchises and even many more.
How it works?
Candidates who are interested in applying for the ASE certification have to register and also they should take up one or even more ASE 40 plus examinations. All examinations will be under some specializations and the following are some of the specializations which come under this examination and they are:
1) Automobile
2) Light/ medium/ heavy truck
3) Buses
4) Truck equipments
5) Alternate fuel technicians
6) Collision damage estimations
7) Parts specialists
8) Auto service consultants
9) Engine machinist and collision repair technicians
Candidates who take up the examination and pass in any one or more specialization and submitting at least two years of work experience certificate will successfully become ASE certified candidates. The certification validity is not for life-long and in order to remain ASE certified, candidates have to recertify by taking up further more tests from ASE examinations for every five years. So, validity for each successive completion of examination is up to 5 years.
Paper or pencil tests will be conducted at over 750 locations across the world for two times a year. All these exam centers are administered by ACT which is known for its occupational and academic testing programs. Some tests are conducted by computer based format. All these exams are tested to the candidates to gain skills for job oriented. Approximately, two out of five exam takers will fail in their examination but there are certain good benefits if a candidate certifies.
