Earning Your MCSE Certification

As an IT professional, you understand all too well the importance of certifications. Obtaining a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification is definitely a positive move for your career. MCSE is a Microsoft-specific certification that proves your knowledge and abilities in the design and implementation of the network infrastructure for businesses. The MCSE certification requires the IT professional to successfully pass seven exams. No wonder it's considered one of Microsoft's Premier Certifications.

In today's highly competitive IT market, advancing your education is very important. The fact that you are rising above other IT professionals to keep your competitive edge does not go unnoticed. Business owners looking for a self-motivated engineer to fill a position in their company often look for current certifications. Microsoft offers a wide variety of Microsoft Certified Professional certifications. Microsoft's certifications carry a lot of influence with business owners. Whatever Microsoft certification you're pursuing, you won't be disappointed by the results after you add your certification to your résumé.

Earning an MCSE certification is no simple task. This fact, paired with the demand for corporate level IT professionals, makes an MCSE a very valuable certification to acquire.

Your MCSE may be on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2000, Windows NT4.0 or Windows 2000. MCSE training is most appropriate for those already in a professional IT field. Systems engineers, technical support engineers, systems analysts, network analysts and technical consultants would already be familiar with the basic framework in a business' infrastructure. IT professionals who have experience are already be familiar with some of the subject matter on the exams and would have the ability to put real-world experience to the test. Related work experience gives you the edge over someone who isn't as familiar with design and implementation of a network infrastructure.

After you have achieved the MCSE certification on the operating system of your choice, you will have the opportunity to pick a specialty to further set yourself apart from your peers. MCSE specializations are a way for IT professionals to more easily identify their focus in a particular field. You may choose to specialize in messaging or security with any MCSE certification you acquire. Business owners often require an employee with specific specialization in security. An MCSE: Security would let potential employers know you are MCSE certified with a focus on security.

Many websites offer reading material, study guides and even free practice tests to help you prepare for your MCSE exam. Microsoft often offers a free second-chance test if you don't pass the exam the first time. Many professionals require a second chance, so don't let a first-exam failure deter you from reaching your goal.

The seven examinations leading up to certification consist of four on networking, one on client operations, one on design and one elective. The elective examination is of your choice and ranges from servers to security. Upon completion of the exams, you will receive your MCSE Certificate, a wallet card, a lapel pin and a few other bonus gifts from Microsoft. Students passing the examination can download their transcripts through the exclusive MCP member website. You will reap the benefits of the real reward when you've added your MCSE certification to your résumé and negotiated a higher salary or landed a new job.

In addition to your certificate and other gifts from Microsoft, you will receive great deals on industry-specific magazines, websites and MCP-only databases. Through the MCP member website, you can access Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine Online. The magazine has been regarded as one of the industry's leading career and professional development magazines. Regular online chats with other Microsoft professionals will keep you in the loop and help further your education and career.

CompTIA A+ Certification Reality Check

The Computing Technology Industry Association offers a number of Certifications that enable IA techs to make their resumes look stronger and that also give employers a measuring stick for evaluating the skill level of an applicant. The A+ Certification is one of these and is considered an entry level general purpose vendor-neutral certification. It covers a wide range of skills related to the maintenance of personal computers. It also covers basic networking, security, safety, and even environmental issues.

A+ Certification training is available worldwide and is designed to prepare the student for the certification exam. There is a common misconception, however, concerning A+ Certification training. Many aspiring techs view it as a basic training course for beginners to the IA technology field. In planning their career path, they view the A+ training as the starting place for their overall training. This is a mistake. The Certification training programs are designed to prepare the student to take the comprehensive exam to receive the Certification. A certain skill level and educational background is going to be assumed of the students taking the training. If you have not received the elementary training, you are going to be over your head.

Certification training is not the starting place for computer technology. This training needs to start at the earliest possible time. It is like many other subjects like mathematics and language and it requires that the proper foundation be laid before advanced training can be undertaken. In mathematics, you can not expect to take a class to prepare you for an advanced algebra exam if you have never learned to count. Do not view certificates as the starting point. If you are serious about a career in computer technology, a review of A+ certification requirements would be helpful to guide you in the choice of classes or programs to acquire the basic foundation skills and knowledge.

On the other side of the issue, do not underestimate the importance of Certification. The IA field is growing more and more competitive every day. Employers are deluged with candidates for the better jobs, and certifications are often the factors that most influenced their decisions. This is becoming more an more the reality of the career path. If you are serious about advancing in this field, begin as soon as possible working your way toward earning as many certificates as possible. The A+ Certificate is the place to start.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification requires you to clear all its exams to get Microsoft certified. MCSE 2003 courses cover the content of the Windows Server 2003 track of the MCSE certification exams.

As of July 2007, there are two types of MCSE certifications, MCSE on Windows Server 2003 or MCSE 2003 in short and MCSE on Windows 2000.

Here we will discuss about MCSE 2003 courses. MCSE on Windows Server 2003 certification requirements include six core exams and one elective exam to be passed by the candidate.

Out of the total six core exams there are four networking system exams, one client operating system exam, and one design exam. Exam 70-290, exam 70-291, exam 70-293 and exam 70-294 are the four networking system exam codes.

The sole client operating system exam you can choose any one out of exam code 70-620, exam code 70-270, and exam code 70-210. For the design exam too, you can choose any one out of exam code 70-297 and exam code 70-298. You can select any one of the large number of elective exam options available to you. You need to appear in and clear a different set of exams, if you wish to upgrade you MCSE 2000 certification to MCSE 2003.

Now comes the point of getting trained for these exams. Microsoft has divided each examination into different courses. This has enabled students and teachers to understand the demands of these exams. Overall, these MCSE 2003 courses can be pursued through mainly three means, namely classroom training, distance learning, and boot camps.

Different course sets of each exam provide an easy and systematic method to approach every exam. This results in better and deep knowledge of the subject.

Let us discuss the methods by which you can pursue the various MCSE 2003 courses.

If you have the time, regular classroom training is the best way to learn thtough all the MCSE 2003 courses. It will give you hands-on training and will refresh you with real-life experiences. Also, you will be able to interact with the teacher face-to-face. This will boost your confidence and resolve your queries.

But not everyone is able to enroll in a regular course. For such individuals, online courses are the best option. There is no restriction to attend classes at a specific time. You need not travel to reach the classroom location. Just sit at home comfortably and attend online classes at your own convenience.

All study materials are distributed electronically during online training. Chat rooms, discussion forums, one-on-one interaction with the instructor are some of the unique benefits of online MCSE 2003 courses.

Not even one out of the several MCSE 2003 courses is to be taken lightly. Study hard, achieve the MCSE 2003 certification, and advance in your career.

The Best Dog Training Book

Canine training has become main stream with in the last few years due to the Animal Planet and TV shows like the "Dog Whisper" with Cesar Milam. These shows have started a revolution in pet awareness, pet training, and human pet interactions. The focus of this article is about dog training and some of the books around to help with this training. With so many ways to train our dogs it has become very difficult to determine which training book is best. I have read many dog training books, articles and below have listed some items you want to pay attention to when picking the best dog training book.

With so many books out on the market it might be hard sometimes to decide what to pick and why. There are many factors that will determine which book is the best pet education book for you. One factor that you will want to look at is whether or not the book achieves your goals of preparation your canine. The fundamental concept for each book is to build a relationship with your animal and learn how to communicate what you want from your dog in a positive, punishment free environment. Building a happy relationship with your pet will be a core goal of all pet training. Some times you see people walking their dogs, but it looks like the dog is walking them! We want to avoid this and have our pet to be well trained.

There are different techniques used in different books to achieve these concepts. One of the most popular training methods is the clicker training method. This type of training is based on using a small clicker device that makes 'NOISE' and is used as reinforcement to the puppy. This training starts off by having you first condition the dogie to expect a treat when it hears the sound of the clicker. Once you have conditioned the pet you start to train the behavior you want of your animal while clicking the clicker device each time your pet performs the action you want.

The second type of training is based on using small dog treats to reinforce the behavior you want from you dog. Easy dog obedience instruction or do it yourself dog training stresses using positive reinforcements like small dog treats or positive praise. Each book will have specific details for you to use with its training. Such factors such as the environment you should train the dog in. A time line to use for making sure you dog teaching is progressing. Results that you should see as you train to ensure you are meeting your goals. You will probably need to read a few dog teaching books to see which one works best for you.

Career Advice - Winning the Career Game Calls For Putting on a Game Face

Q. Yesterday I was interviewed for a job that sounds really good. One question stumped me: "What kind of boss do you like to work for?" Caught by surprise, I said, "I like a boss who's available to answer questions and give me feedback."

How do I prepare for next time?

A. Whether you're interviewing for a job, networking or making a client presentation, you've entered a business relationship. And business relationships differ from friendships.

So when you enter a business or a sports arena, you put on a uniform and wear your game face. You follow the rules. Long-time successful players (like Diana Taurasi and Michael Jordan) know the rules so well they can trust their intuition.

But most of us will view networking events and interviews as, well, a new ball game. We don't practice every day. Whole years - even decades - go by without a job interview. So when we come to the game, most of us need to be self-consciously aware of what we are doing.

1. Focus on the game, not your feelings.

Before and after your business encounter, you can (and should) share feelings and concerns openly with a coach, consultant or counselor. But when you're face to face in a business meeting, your game face becomes part of your dress-for-success plan.

A networking acquaintance asks, "How are things going?" You know he doesn't want to hear about problems with suppliers, child care or your crazy boss. Time to share a success story, matter-of-factly, without bragging.

2. Create your playbook before you enter the arena.

Anticipate questions whenever possible. Talk to others with more recent experience.

The other team has a three-point lead and you have sixty seconds left in the game. They have the ball.

I must admit I was surprised the first time I heard a sportscaster explain, "At this level, the coach has already diagrammed the plays for situations like this one." But it makes sense for sports and business, too.

3. Create a game plan for surprises.

You can't plan for every contingency. Opposing coaches come up with creative plays and interviewers come back from a conference with new questions.

One trick I share with clients: As you hear each question, ask yourself, "What answer will show I understand the game and am prepared to play by the rules?"

So you're asked, "What kind of boss do you like?"

Most likely, your prospective employer doesn't care what style of leadership you prefer. If you're working for a big company, chances are you'll have multiple bosses in one year, each with different personalities, management styles and expectations.

But your company does care about accomplishment.

For a for-profit company, you might talk about working for a results-oriented boss. You then talk about the importance of contributing to the bottom line.

Non-profits are guided by mission so you fine-tune your response.

4. Recognize that the game can change in the blink of an eye.

Of course, you may realize that you will not be able to function in the environment presented by this organization. You can withdraw from the game altogether.

But I encourage clients not to leave too fast. Just as a basketball game can reverse in the last twenty seconds, a job can change overnight. Literally.

5. Plan for getaways.

Some people live for their game and their work. I know some Internet marketers who work sixteen hours a day - happily. Some players and coaches live for the game, especially during March Madness. They relax by shooting around on the court.

But most of us need breaks and getaways. We need to step back to gain perspective. And everyone I know needs a place to take off the game face and relax, if only for a little while.

Recession Proof Your Business

It seems fair to say that some of the businesses that have succumbed to the credit crunch would have appeared to be completely safe even a couple of years ago. Although this recession has been in the pipeline for the last few years, it would have been easy until ealry last year to have the impression that the overall financial situation would be far from problematic for the foreseeable future. Things move fast however, and once one bank experiences capital cash flow problems, it is a matter of time before another reports similar difficulties, and one by one even the most seemingly secure banks start to post poor financial results. The knock on effect of this affects business in almost a blanket fashion.

The problem with a financial crisis such as the one the world is currently experiencing is that it puts a pinch on lending. A lack of personal lending hurts consumer spending, while a pinch on business lending leads to difficulties in retooling a business that needs continual improvement. As the situation gets worse, more and more businesses, both large and small, will suffer as a result. This affects jobs, which in turn affects spending, and before too long the crisis is all but inescapable. For the small business, it is a fearful time in which to operate.

The only way to be fully confident of getting through the tricky times in which we are living, and the future which will continue to be problematic for some time to come, is to take steps to recession proof your business. If you want to be sure of survival, it requires taking a close look at your figures and seeing where cuts can be made without harming your bottom line. This may mean reducing your orders from suppliers - which is unfortunate for the supplier, who needs to make a living, but essential for you. Cutting back on non-essential spending such as business class travel is never fun, but may well be a non-negotiable matter. Ensuring that you have the disposable funds to see your business through the dark days is the one and only priority.

If it is possible to diversify your output without spending excessively, you will give yourself all the more chance of negotiating a difficult time. Making yourself as attractive to potential customers - if possible, making your business essential - is something towards which you simply have to concentrate as much of your effort as possible. Never has the term "sink or swim" so completely summed up the financial reality.
